The Industry 4 School project was born in 2017 to address the shortage of skilled labor in the metalworking sector, in which the gap between the world of school and that of work is very wide.

To be competitive, companies invest in high technology production systems, which require specialized professional skills. The school does not have the financial resources necessary to purchase up-to-date equipment to set up the laboratories, which is why three forward-looking entrepreneurs, at the head of leading companies in their sectors and in continuous expansion, searched for a solution to this problem:

  • Mr. Gianluca Marchetti, MT
  • Mr. Alessandro Pettinari, Fom Industrie

  • Mr. Pietro Donati, Universal Pack

the collaboration of some schools in the area:

  • ITTS O. Belluzzi - L. Da Vinci, Rimini
  • ITIS E. Mattei, Urbino
  • ISISS P. Gobetti - A. De Gasperi, Morciano di Romagna

They created an innovative project with the aim of combining the enhancement of human capital with the economic development of the area.

Boys and girls of IV and V classes of Mechanics, Electronics and Informatics courses, twice a week outside school hours, go to each of the three companies, divided into two cycles: each cycle includes 16 hours in each company, for a total of 48 hours per cycle.

In the company, participants directly experience cutting-edge equipment and technologies, supported by the tutors of the companies. Mechanical, electrical and electronic design, mechanical, software, safety and quality are the areas involved in the project.

In MT the students have the opportunity to be trained on two machine tool simulators provided by DMG Mori Japan, through which they can learn programming using an interface that reproduces exactly a lathe and a latest generation machining center. Starting from the workshop drawing, they are shown all the phases of the process, from the drafting of the part program to the simulation of the machining.

I4School is a concrete experience in the world of work, carried out in leading and innovative companies, which gives participants the opportunity to learn specific knowledge aimed at enhancing their talent and professional achievement, living "from within" three different realities of the metalworking sector .

In addition, for each school there is a prize for the most deserving participant and a scholarship has been set up, made available by the three companies behind the project, for the best students who intend to continue their university studies at the Faculty of Engineering.

The success of the I4School project is testified by the number of subscribers that has steadily increased over the years.
